Dr Angela Sheu graduated with a combined Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (Honours) and Bachelor of Science (Medicine) Honours from the University of New South Wales, and completed Endocrinology training at St George, Prince of Wales and St Vincent’s hospitals. She is currently undertaking a PhD at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, in collaboration with St Vincent’s and Prince of Wales Hospitals.
Her research focuses on osteoporosis and diabetes mellitus, although she is interested in all aspects of endocrinology, including insulin resistance and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, thyroid, pituitary and adrenal disorders.
Dr Sheu has published in a number of peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker to national Bone and Physician conferences. In 2015, she was awarded the Graz Clock Award for Best Oral Presentation at Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society (ADIPS) scientific meeting, and in 2016 she won the NSW Trainee Research Award in Adult Medicine by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). She currently receives awards from National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Diabetes Australia, Osteoporosis Australia and RACP.
She is compassionate and dedicated to patient care, teaching and research. She regularly attends national and international meetings in order to provide her patients with up to date and evidence-based, comprehensive individualised care. She is a member of multiple national and international societies (Australian Diabetes Society, Endocrine Society Australia, Australian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society, Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society and American Society for Bone and Mineral Research). Dedicated to the care of patients with endocrine problems, Dr Angela Sheu has expertise and experience in the medical management of diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands.
